Introducing the Tula Free-to Grow
The Tula Free-To-Grow is the newest addition to the Tula range, and their first adjustable carrier.
The Tula Free-to-Grow has all the style and comfort of the standard Tula. It’s additional adjustability makes the Tula Free-To-Grow suitable from birth, without need for an infant insert. This makes it it a wonderful, and extremely popular, carrier! It is also available in the Coast version for those hot summer days!

Adjusting the carrier
Once fully expanded the Tula Free-To-Grow is the same size as a standard Tula, with two smaller width settings and a full range of heights along the adjuster. This makes it possible to fit a wide range of babies!
The standard Tula requires an insert to fit a newborn. The major benefit of the Free-To-Grow is needing no insert. Inserts can be fiddly to fit correctly, are a separate item to buy and lose and can be too warm in the summer.
Getting the right setting for your baby
The first thing to get right with the Tula Free-To-Grow is to fit the carrier to your baby. You need to be on the right width setting and height setting. Our suggestion is to start on the narrowest appropriate setting and only move up when necessary. The width settings will generally fit 0-3 months, 3-6 months and 6 months+ but this will vary for your baby. At all times your baby must be able to bend their knees freely and not be overspread in the hips.
Set the width before you put the baby in the carrier and do a general adjust of the height, but it is easier to set the final height once baby is in and you can fit around their final position.

Tightening Tula straps in a back carry
Tightening the straps in a back carry requires pulling backwards. This can be an awkward movement to do with enough strength to tighten all of the slack out.
This video shows how you can use your elbow to more easily tighten backwards.
Fastening and adjusting the chest strap
Baby, Toddler and Preschool Tulas have rucksack style straps. Some people find it tricky to get this fastened or positioned comfortably. Often people will find that they are most comfortable with the strap level with their shoulder blades.
This video shows 3 different techniques for fastening the chest strap
