We get the pleasure of trying a lot of different wraps and carriers here at It’s A Sling Thing. Sometimes it’s something really special. This month we hosted the travelling Sling School stretchy wraps!

We love stretchy wraps, there is something really lovely about using one with big and small kids alike. Stretchy wraps are soft and snuggly. They mould around both the baby and adult in a way that feels fantastic.

About the wrap

We were sent two of the Sling School stretchy wraps: one purple Blackcurrant Drop, and one currently unnamed dusky pink. All of their colours are named after different sweet treats. We look forward to seeing what this one is named (Angel Delight I think!) Sling School stretchy wraps come in two lengths: 4m and 5m. A vinyl middle marker of the Sling School logo is used: you can get either white or rainbow versions. The middle marker is easy to see and also easy to find by touch. Sling School stretchy wraps are two way stretchy wraps meaning they stretch along both the length and the width.

What we thought

Soft, strong and elastic

We found the Sling School stretchy wraps super soft and very strong and elastic. They wrap beautifully and the soft rolling edges help you to tell which side of the wrap you’re working with. Giving a choice of lengths means that people can be less overwhelmed by the length of the fabric when tying.

Our first test with the wraps was to throw them on one morning and put our own children in them. Our children are outside the generally accepted ‘limit’ for stretchy wraps. However, sometimes you can tell so much about a fabric using it with big kids! Our models in these photos are 18 months old, 3 years old and 4.5 years old. All roughly weigh between 16 and 18kg.

Surprisingly supportive!

The Sling School stretchy wrap’s elasticity surprised us with how supportive it is, even with heavy children! The children snuggled in tight, the wrap supporting knee to knee and all the way to the back of the neck.

We’ve since tried the wraps in a variety of different carries and with different age babies. They have been really lovely to use. They have a perfect amount of stretch to allow you to get a supportive carry!
